The brief
A timber deck and barrel sauna threaded into a wooded slope, designed to feel like it grew out of the forest.
The challenge
A steep, root-laden site with limited access and a strong desire to keep every existing tree.
Our approach
We cantilevered sections of the deck off a minimal-footprint structure to avoid the root zones, and positioned the sauna to capture the morning light.
The outcome
A private retreat that touches the ground lightly and disappears into the trees.
