The brief
A sheltered, covered patio beneath Table Mountain, woven into a lush Newlands garden for all-weather use.
The challenge
High rainfall and shade on one of the wetter sides of the mountain, with a client who wanted to use the space in every season.
Our approach
We built a covered structure over a well-drained hardwood deck and integrated indigenous, shade-tolerant planting around it.
The outcome
A patio that shrugs off Newlands weather and stays green and inviting through winter.
